We hope you enjoy your stay

This page will guide you through your visit! We've included practical information, house rules and of course... our most valuable places in the neighborhood. We wish you the same great experience as we once had, which made us fall in love with this neighborhood.

Practical info

How to get there

By car

We suggest following Google’s or Waze’s recommended route. Important to know, the city center is a low emission zone and there is a traffic circulation plan which you can find here.

Parking

There is no private parking available at the house. There is space for bikes, scooters and strollers though. If you are lucky you may be able to park in the street (1,5euro/hour). Otherwise the closest parking is Parking Gent Sint-Pieters Station, or you can park for free in the streets around ‘De sterre’.

Public transit

From Gent Sint-Pieters Station our house is about 7 minutes walking. Along the back of the station you will reach ‘De Voskenslaan’. Follow this street and take the second on the left, ‘Tuinwijklaan’. The street right in front of the store OKAY.

Checking in

You are welcome from 15:00. The host will personally let you in and hand over the keys. He likes to give some information about the WiFi connection, television, kitchen and much more. All questions are welcome. If he is unable to do so, the check-in will be remotely.

Checking out

Check-out is at 11:00. We ask you to leave the key on the counter and to close the door. Take good care of the keys. If you lose them, a fee will be charged. When possible, turn on the dishwasher or do the dishes before leaving. Please throw the black garbage bags from the kitchen, into the green trash can outside.

We will always try to be flexible on arrival and departure hours. Please feel free to ask us anything.

House Rules

Treat it with love

We renovated this beautiful house with the greatest care and with exclusive materials. We assume that you will take care of everything, like it is your own. Please do not eat or drink in the bedrooms. We accept a maximum of 6 persons even though there is more space. Please do not rearrange the furniture. We would love it if you get inspired by our way of life and our sense of aesthetics. Our interior designer, Margaux Doulliez, is passionate about spaces and decoration. If you have any questions about the craftsmanship, interior choices or materials we are happy to help you. Smoking in the house is strictly forbidden. If you smoke outside, remember to throw the cigarette butts in the trash bin and not on the ground.

No pets allowed

We do love animals, but to our regret the accommodation does not allow pets. We renovated this house with the greatest care and it would be a pity if we have some damage due to animals. From our own experience with our Australian Shepherd, Topo, we know that losing hair is an issue. To provide the following tenants with the same quality, we choose not to allow pets. If you are interested in a walk with our dog, please let us know.

Respect the neighbors

The house is located in a residential area. This means that the neighbors have to be taken into account. The house was isolated but please do not make excessive noise at any time. In the event of noise nuisance, the neighbors will be obliged to report this to the security forces. Please reduce any noise after 22h. As musicians we are, just like you, in love with loud music, but private parties are not allowed. Smoking in the house is strictly forbidden. If you smoke outside, remember to throw the cigarette butts in the trash bin and not on the ground.

Explore the city

Get to the city center

Ghent is, above all, our favorite city. She is less touristic than Bruges and therefore much more attractive and accessible. A large part of the historic center of Ghent is car-free, which largely frees the streets from pollution noisy cars. This creates a certain peace and quiet in the city center which benefits the atmosphere in the city. Ghent has a lot to offer: historic buildings, beautiful facades, lovely terraces, good shopping streets, a lively nightlife, beautiful museums and excellent places to go out and eat.

Whether you come here for the first time or second time, there is always a lot to experience and discover in Ghent. If you need help by guiding trough the historic city center we recommend you “Valerie De Witte”. She guides you through the city in different ways. Plan your tour here or call her on 0032 495 47 55 29. She’ll be happy to help you.

If you don’t feel like walking, no need, you can find more information for a boat trip here. Enjoy one of their relaxing and interesting boat tours in the medieval city of Ghent.

By Bike

Ghent is a marvelous city for cyclists. It is known to be the cycling city of Flanders. You can rent bikes at many places in the city, but we recommend “Fietspunt”, it is just around the corner of our house. You can find this bike rental in the Voskenslaan 27. They are open every weekday from 7:00h to 19:00 and Saturdays from 10:00h to 18:00h. If you need more info, you can get it here or you can call 0032 9 266 77 00

By Tram

Hof ter Mere is near public transportation. If you think the bike is a little too dangerous, you can take the tram. It is situated on the same road, Voskenslaan. First stop is Gent-Sint-Pieters-Station.  You can take the tram in the Voskenslaan to get to the city center. Plan your trip here.

By car

Important to know, the city center is a low emission zone and there is a traffic circulation plan which you can find here. It takes 5 minutes to go by car. We recommend this parking or this one.

Plan your trip to the museum

Only in Ghent it is possible to travel in time, from the Middle Ages to the 21st century, in just one day. The many monuments and museums are all within a stone’s throw from each other and offer something to everyone. If you want to plan a museum trip, click here.

Do you want to admire the beauty of art? Discover paintings from the Middle Ages to the 19the century at the MSK. Or maybe you prefer contemporary art? Then you should go to the S.M.A.K.! If history interest you, discover the history and growth of Ghent at the STAM. Or travel back into time in the House of Alijn or the School of Yesteryear.

Do you have a passion for Science and Technology? There are possibilities for you too. Discover the development of psychiatry in the Dr. Guislain Museum. Or if you are interested in the importance of the cloth industry in the Museum of Industry. And of course, there’s also the Ghent University Museum, with its extensive collection heritage collections (over 400.000 items).

Do you think museums are not for children? You couldn’t be more wrong! Have your children discover the wondrous world of nature in the World of Kina. Moreover, every museum offers a specific program for the youngest visitors.
